Software Developer – Ruby and/or Python (Brookhaven, NY)

Software Developer, Ruby on Rails and/or Python

Overview:
• Major Publishing Firm is seeking a Software Developer to be part of a small team responsible for building Dynamic Web Applications.
• This Developer is expected to have a strong Web Development background and a proven ability to work across all tiers of an application (Backend, Frontend, API Layer, etc...).
• This is not purely a PHP programming position. We need a Developer who is skilled enough to manage large scale applications. Developers who have other skills but have PHP experience are acceptable but having only PHP experience this is a non-starter.

Requirements:
• Must have experience with full lifecycle development in a modern dynamic language (Experience with Ruby on Rails or experience with Python and some exposure to Ruby)
• Experience building dynamic websites with frameworks such as Rails, Sinatra, Django, etc.
• Ability to create modular, object oriented code that is clear, maintainable and utilizes design patterns and other best practices.
• Strong data modeling and database skills including experience with an RDBMS (MySQL preferred) as well as NoSQL data stores (MongoDB, Redis, Riak, HBase, etc.).

Information Security Analyst (Midtown Manhattan)

Information Security Analyst

Will work to Identify Security Risks, Threats and Vulnerabilities for the Firm’s Network, Systems, Applications and New Technology Initiatives. Reporting directly to the VP of Information Governance, the Information Security Analyst will provide support to ISO / Tech Risk Functional Areas. This is NOT a Network Engineering / Network Security position

Responsibilities:
• Conduct information security assessments to identify potential technology risks
• Establish and monitor compliance with security requirements for all applications. Evaluate and test the security features for any new applications
• Manage the quarterly re-certification process for all applications and shared access elements within our environment
• Oversee the documentation of all Information Security and Technology Risk procedures and processes
• Monitor scans by the Security Incident Event Monitoring application and investigate anomalies to ensure all activities are in compliance with policies and procedures
• Conduct weekly email surveillance reviews for Compliance and HR and investigate any subsequent findings
• Review and analyze security logs to identify any anomalies within our environment and activities within our network as well as from any devices accessing the network
• Assist key stakeholders in identifying and certifying relevant technology risks within each department
• Assist in the coordination and performance of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing on a regular basis
• Oversee the Technology Risk Matrices for incidents and follow-up on outstanding action plans resulting from these incidents and identified risks from the annual Technology Risk Assessment
• Research and identify applicable security safeguards based on the threat landscape
• Oversee user access processes to ensure operational integrity of the application security application
• Oversee the daily operations of the following Information Security applications including training on these applications: RSA’s DLP, CyberArk, Varonis, VCM, BlockMaster and Netezza Mantra for Database Compliance Monitoring

Requirements:
• Will have a minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in Information Security
• Familiarity with Federal Regulations and Industry standards related to Information Security (FISMA, ISO 27001/27002, NIST, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of intermediate/advanced Excel Functions

Major International Firm is seeking a Vice President, Information Technology / CIO for a Long Island based Division. The selected candidate will be a proactive member of the Leadership Team and will be responsible for ensuring that all strategies and deliverables are fully integrated into the corporate environment. This Division has an annual operating expense budget of $35M+.

• Will directly supervise 9 Senior Direct Reports with a global team of 125+ people.
• Responsible for all aspects of IT strategy and delivery of all activities and initiatives aligned to support business improvement and profitable growth while delivering IT safety, compliance, customer service, change management and cost efficiency.
• Ensure that all technology activities are performed in a safe and compliant manner, meeting all internal and external standards including Sarbanes Oxley.
• Creation and Delivery of the Global IT Strategy to align with and support business strategies and process improvement goals.
• IT Service Delivery with a focus on IT Customer Service and Best Cost, IT Strategic Planning, Functional Transformation and Annual Operating Plan targets.
• Management of Global Staff, to ensure a focus on identifying required needs, working with staff on learning and personal development

Responsibilities:
• Proactively lead the IT related change teams to successfully deliver the agreed business benefits within the budget change cost and with minimal business disruption.
• Partner with the Business Leadership, Marketing and Technology Teams to deliver ePresence, with a focus on Global Web and working with R&D on innovative new products.
• Partner with Business Teams to deliver all IT activities associated with mergers, acquisitions and divestments.
• Deliver a performing technical infrastructure at by managing local staff and resources and partnering with Corporate Global IT Services.
• Support the business initiatives in emerging regions and leverage internal and external emerging region resources to deliver best practice processes.
• Ensure that IT processes are integrated as appropriate with Corporate IT processes.
• Leverage internal and external benchmarking to identify leading industry practices to drive continuous improvement.

Basic Requirements:
• +/- 10 years of Senior IT Leadership experience
• Proven experience using Six Sigma or ITIL or similar tools for driving continuous improvement.
• Experience in visioning, set up and delivery of ePresence /eCommerce related change programs ideally in both business to business and business to consumer web environments.
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, SAP, BPCS or JDEdwards would be ideal
• Strong business acumen and credibility, including experience leading in a non IT environment.
• Leadership of major business change programs, ideally including a major ERP systems change with a demonstrable track record of success illustrating the ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple business projects on time and within budget.
• Experience working in a matrix environment and managing global teams with excellent interpersonal, business partnership, team building and all round leadership skills.
• Process and customer focused, results driven with a positive can do attitude.
Critical Requirements:
• Proven track record as CIO / Senior IT Leader, ideally in a Manufacturing, Distribution or related firm
• Experience within a Global Company / Global Role
• Experience with a firm that has successfully increased revenue through their ePresence/ Web Strategies & where this individual was instrumental in that effort
