Java Programmer (Island Park, L.I., NY)

Java Developer

This Applications Developer will provide production support, maintenance and enhancements to our Transaction Processing, Accounting and Reconciliation systems using Java.
The Key Skills needed are:
• Core Java
• Spring
• Hibernate
• Multithreading
• JMS

Responsibilities:
• Design and implement new software components using best practices.
• Upgrade, improve and refactor software components based on new and changing requirements.
• Provide production support for Java based software products. Work closely with Operations staff to identify and fix real time issues.
• Will provide product installation support.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:
• 3-5 years of experience supporting and maintaining Java environments, ideally SQL/JDBC development; MySQL a plus.
• Must possess solid object-oriented design and implementation skills and have a strong knowledge of common design patterns.
• Must have strong user / customer interface skills along with solid written and oral communication skills.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science required.
• Should be a quick learner with excellent problem solving skills.
• Key Skills: Core Java, Spring, Hibernate, Multithreading, JMS.

Environment:
• This is a fast-paced environment requiring a high level of responsibility to ensure timelines are met.
• Occasional travel and additional work time may be required from time to time.

Applications Developer, C# / SQL (NY City)

Application Developer
Responsible for applications development, programming enhancements and maintenance for all mission critical application systems.

Responsibilities:
• 45%: Maintain existing programming; 45%: Programming of system enhancements; 10%: Development of technical specifications
• Problem Solving: Will be required to evaluate business problems and apply appropriate programming solutions.
• Decision Making: Must be able to determine appropriate programming paths to solve business problems.
• Reporting Structure: Will be supervised by Application Development Manager at a high level and expected to follow through on projects to completion, reporting back status at predetermined intervals.
• Job Complexity: This position is complex nature as it requires the employee to be able to learn the existing application framework, have a thorough understanding of the firm’s business units and be able to make recommendations for programming solutions.

Requirements:
• Three + years of development experience
• BS, Computer Science or equivalent experience with additional training
• Solid (at least 3-4 years) of ASP.Net and C#
• At least 2 years of experience with SQL Server with a focus on TSQL and programming
• Experienced with Multi-Tier Architectures
• Must be capable of working both independently and in team environments
• Experience with Performance tuning and LINQ would be a plus

Director of MIS (Central Islip, NY)

Director of MIS

• Responsible for all Information Technology capabilities including servers and central processing hardware, LAN, WAN, MIS, ERP application(s), Database Management, all peripheral software, applications management, personal computers and desktop management.
• Directs, delegates and coordinates these responsibilities through subordinate staff.
• Responsible for the continuous functioning, security, and maintenance of all IT infrastructures, implementation of new or modified applications and the addition of new hardware, network linkages, software, and peripherals.
• Directs and coordinates all development and production activities of the Management Information Systems (MIS) department.

Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements operational policies, procedures and work standards to provide information, utilities and related services to the organization.
• Oversees the Operations Center, information processing platforms and computer/communication/network operations and support personnel.
• Technical expert providing support and advice to end users in solving operational problems with available technology (hardware, software, database, networks, etc.).
• Works closely with users, IT staff, and vendors to assure the availability and compatibility of services.
• Consults with management to analyze computer system needs for management information and functional operations, to determine scope and priorities of projects, and to discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
• Develops, implements, and monitors management information systems policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.
• Recommends and develops plans for systems development and operations, hardware and software purchases, budget, and staffing.
• Manages the design, development, testing/debugging, implementation, installation, maintenance, and operation of information and functional systems for the organization.
• Manages the creation of documentation needed for the installation and maintenance of software applications.
• Negotiates and contracts with consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products related to IT.
• Provides support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware.
• Provides formalized, continuing work direction and leadership to assigned team(s), including the scheduling, assignment, and review of project work.
• Coordinates the use of internal technical support personnel and vendor support to provide higher levels of troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Tracking, monitoring, and communicating project progress against plan, requirements, standard processes and milestones.
• Reviews reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine costs and impact, and address problems.
