Overview:
Nassau County B2B Business Services Firm is looking for a Data Engineer to Develop, Maintain, Test and Evaluate Data Solutions. The Selected Candidate will Develop Data Models, Corresponding Data Architecture Documents and API’s. The ideal Candidate will have experience within the Insurance Industry, have exceptional Technical and Communication skills and a Strategic Mindset

Responsibilities:
·        Data Engineering: Create, Design and Maintain Reusable Datasets for Analysis by Data Scientists.
·        Assess New Data Sources to Enhance the Understanding, Availability and Quality of Data.
·        Provide Governance and Best Practices for Data Structures, Data Integrity, and Data Queries. Design, Implement and Enhance ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) Processes.
·        Write SQL Queries to as per requests from Stakeholders.
·        Interpret business needs from requests, and rapidly implement effective technical solutions.
·        Work closely with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, Development Team and Administrators to understand Data Capture and Testing Needs.
·        Automate and improve the Creation and Maintenance of Reports and Dashboards.
·        Maintain Source Code Repository of Scripts (SQL, Python, R) and other data products (Dashboards, Reports, etc.).

Requirements:
·        BA/BS required; Master's Degree preferred. Will have had an academic emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences).
·        Strong, Current, Advanced SQL and Relational Database skills including Queries, Database Definition and Schema Design.
·        Python or R experience is required.
·        Writing and maintaining ETL on a variety of Structured and Unstructured Sources.
·        Experience Sourcing Data via REST Web Services.
·        Will have solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), and Excel (Pivot Tables).
·        Insurance experience a plus.
·        Absolutely must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

This is a permanent, full time position; NOT a Contract. All candidates MUST be local to Island Park, L.I., NY. Please do not apply if you are not local, even if you would pay your own relocation.
